RTI Activist from Delhi, Subhash Chandra Agarwals RTI Reveals : Crores of rupees worth Electricity dues pending towards Parliamentarians

Our Parliamentarians should race for Guinness World Record for having maximum pending government-dues against them. An RTI response earlier had revealed more than rupees seven crores pending as telephone dues towards present and former Parliamentarians. Now an RTI response from NDMC has revealed that much more than this amount is pending as electricity and other municipal dues against them. Here again late ABA Ghani Khan Choudhary holds the record with dues worth rupees 42 lakhs. NDMC has also failed to respond on ways to recover such huge outstanding from such hi-fi defaulters! Enquiry should be made why and how services were not disconnected on non-payment of any single bill like is done in case of normal consumers. Even now if present Parliamentarians do not clear all their pending dues within a stipulated time-period of say three months, not only recovery-proceedings should be initiated against them, but even their membership of Parliament should be cancelled.

Rule should be auto-deduct of all government-bills from salaries and pensions of present and former Parliamentarians. No-dues certificate should be necessary from contestants before filing nomination for any election. Services like of telephone, water, electricity etc should be disconnected for non-payment of any single bill, like are done in case of normal citizens. Likewise government-accommodations should be forcibly vacated within one month of losing entitlement to retain these. In case of dues towards deceased Parliamentarians, these should be recovered from such legal heirs who might have benefitted from assets left by deceased Parliamentarians.
