Citizens Power Triumphs : Anna Hazare Breaks His Fast.

28 August 2011 One Comment

(From the Editor’s Desk ) In the history of Indian Democracy a day again where we all can really say ”To the People, For the People, By the People” Anna Hazare broke his fast today on the 13th Day at Ramlila Maidan. History has been made, a Jubiliant India celebrates today, even if a partial victory !!! where the Government adopted a resolution with the sense of both houses of the Parliament, without a vote ofcourse !!! to consider Anna Hazare’s 3 key demands in the Lokpal Bill :

  1. Bringing the Lower bureaucracy under the ambit of Lokpal
  2. Lokayukta’s in all states to have powers of Lokpal
  3. Citizens charter in all government offices

The Government did not move the resolution for voting by stating the members of both houses did’nt want a voting on it and it was adopted unanimously. So it can be said as a victory of Citizens Power, where the citizens dream of a Corruption free India thanks to the entire team Anna consisting of RTI Activist Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi, Prashant Bhushan, Shanti Bhushan and Manish Sisodia was partially achieved, but it is still a half victory in Anna’s own words as he described it and stated the crusade against corruption will still continue. RTI Activist Arvind Kejriwal did thank all the parties and politicians for calling a special session yesterday for adopting the resolution on this critical bill.

It is to be thought, a non elite person has struck the chord of the entire Nation’s patriotisim, Anna Hazare was not an Iconic figure but his works and fight against corruption made him standout from the crowd, a fragile 74 year old man who actually brought the Government to its knees “almost”, even his critics like Bal Thackrey of Shivsena agreed that Anna Hazare had made his point and united the entire Nation or Indians we should say not only here in India, but world wide as protests were held world wide in support of India against corruption movement. Anna Hazare also said that more than the elected representatives of the parliament it is the peoples parliament who made this historic movment so powerful that the representatives of the parliament had to accept the 3 major conditions, the Crusade will continue now for reforms in election process.

But we all hope that the people of this country now standup against corruption actually and fight back and say “NO TO CORRUPTION” in their daily life or else this movement and support which was shown by the Countrymen world wide is of no use, and we will be back to square one as just by giving speeches and supporting a movment to fight against corruption…..Corruption will not end, it has to start from you and me as an individual.

The movement was not that only the middle class was part of it, but it was the youth and people from all walks of the society who joined in, everyone who’s self esteem was hit was part of this movement, so keep the fire burning in your hearts…..the fire to say “NO TO CORRUPTION “.

    Sir
I didn’t understand how the lokpal bill (with three demands of Sh. Anna Hazare) will be passed by the standing committee as there are Members like SH. Laaloo Prasad Yadav, who had been accused in fodder scam of Rs. 950 crores and Sh. Amar Singh, who had been arrested recently in “Cash For Vote Scandal”.
